Lady Que's Big Blog of Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff.

Just a little corner of the net where I can hide away and exist I guess..

A little of this and a little of that- some of myself, some record of things I find interesting and helpful too.

Chalkboard door..

So one of the first things you see when you come in is the coat closet door, and I got to thinking- what a good place to leave notes for everyone. So chalkboard it is! There is now a tintable chalkboard paint- so I matched it to the fireplace wall around the corner the best they had, and voila ( plus new doorknobs with bigger grips throughout the house. Love them too!)

Coat 4 or was that 5?:

Finished project!

I'd like to work on trim at some point, make it more vintage and darker, but we'll get there later..

Next up: Doctor Who TARDIS door!

Built in bookshelf project: take one

We have a huge bare wall in the family room crying out for bookshelves.. Built ins, something neat. But the wall is layered over, and paneled and painted and.. So step one: make it not look paneled. I figure the paneling is just as good as backing for the shelves, so we tackle that first, and build the shelves open backed into it- sort of wall, sort of backing. We'll see..

Step 1: even out the hideous grooves with primer spackle.

Step 2: orange peel/knockdown texture.

Step 3: painting the wall

Step 4: building/staining shelves

Step 5: enjoy shelves and finally unpack our library ( Woohoo! I'm missing my genomics books..)
